| Still going here after 33 years at various branches (originally went to the Cullum Street branch which only opened at lunch times). The best curry bar none at great prices. The bhuna gosht is so rich and flavoursome with well cooked tender meat (it's been slow cooked over a epriod of time rather than a quick flash and so falls apart).
Not an upmarket place - you go for the food, not for poncey decor and prices.
My wife and I still make it here at least once a year and always leave well satisfied. |

| Fab place, I used to be a regular at the Aldgate branch as well(now Boots?) same good food and really cheap. Joe the chef used to make the best chicken dhansak Ive ever had! It was dryish and thick deep yellow! gorgeous! I spent many a drunken night in there arm wrestling the owner!! |

| Worth my walk from Wapping to visit this delightfully unpretentious and friendly restaurant. Has it really been there since 1939?? |

| Very good indeed - the place does not seem to change, despite several years between visits. Food is good, service a little slow (but they were very busy on a Friday lunch time). The Halal was opened in 1939, and I doubt they have had to change the formula since - as they got it right the first time. Two of us met for lunch - I had Chicken Dhansak, Mushroom Pilau Rice and a Garlic Naan; my friend Paul (who is a staunch regular) had Vegetable Madras, two Plain Naans and Tarka Dhall (which I dunked into - superb and packed with chilli and garlic - pity I spilled a drop on my cream coloured Chinos - the stain will not come out!) The meal, with non - alcoholic drinks came to less than £25 - what more can you ask? The place was full - as I understand is often the case; I will be going back soon... |

| oh my god to i miss this place!!! I live directly across the street and my wife and I were like adopted children of this place. We must have eaten there 4 times a week. They are very friendly, the food is excellent and you guranteed to have the place to yourself or nearly almost any night you wander in. I've been back in NYC for a year and a half and I cant find a place that compares. |

| This was the first restaurant my wife and I went to after moving to London. We go back every few months. The food is very good and the service is friendly. |

| Top place. Cheap & cheerful, good food, fast service, Cobra.
And they give you Murray Mints at the end of the meal. What more can I say? |

| The food is fabulous, a whole bunch of us have been regulars there for years now. Freindly, inexpensive, consistantly good. Not sure about the handsome staff mentioned in the reiew above, coz we go there for the food! |

| close to the city and a haunt of businessmen. Spartan decor but incredibly good, inexpensive food. The vindaloo is possibly the best I've ever tasted. Free samosa with every beer. If you are prepared to forego fancy surroundings for good food and service at a very low price, this is the curry house for you. |
